On Friday October 26, 2018, OLMC Year 7 attended the 2018 Sydney Invictus Games at the Athletics Centre, Sydney Olympic Park.
The girls were lucky enough to cheer on Mercy Girl Summer Giddings as she competed in a demonstration event - a shuttle relay and 100m race, representing young Cerebral Palsy athletes.
Invictus is about the dedication of the men and women who served their countries, confronted hardship and refused to be defined by their injuries. Invictus is about the families and friends who face the shock of learning that their loved ones have been injured or fallen ill, and then rally to support them on their journey of recovery. Above all, Invictus is about the example to the world that all servicemen and women, injured or not, provide about the importance of service and duty.
Founded by HRH The Duke of Sussex in 2014, the Invictus Games are an international adaptive sports event for wounded, injured and ill active duty and veteran service personnel
