STEM in Schools Day was held on 30 Oct October. This national event brings together STEM professionals, parliamentarians and schools to celebrate STEM careers.
This year, the event highlighted Australia's global challenges - everything from our ageing population to Artificial Intelligence and climate change - and the diverse STEM professionals and careers using innovative science and technology to address them.
OLMC was extremely privileged to host Julie Owens, Federal Member for Parramatta and scientist, Yi Jin Liew from the CSIRO. Our guests enjoyed morning tea with Year 12 Science students and staff. They then moved to the science labs where they spoke to students about science, shared their career journeys and discussed the many options available in this expanding and interesting field. Students participated in activities to broaden their knowledge about STEM.
