PDHPE Teacher Amanda Farrugia has led the GWS Western Sydney team into the first ever season of the Women's League in that code.
Being named captain was a total shock, according to Amanda. "It was a complete surprise but then this wave of privilege and honour came over me and I thought this was an amazing opportunity - it’s an honour and I’m humbled.”
Amanda says her passion and leadership in the sport will help her motivate the next generation of young women.
“I want the girls at OLMC to realise what a wonderful game it is and in some ways break down those gender barriers and gender stereotypes that still exist, particularly culturally. The challenges, the friendships, the leadership skills you can develop playing this game are totally underrated."
