Launching our 130th Year: Opening College Mass

The morning of Friday February 8 was an historic occasion with the official launch of our 130th year anniversary celebrations at the Opening College Mass.

Father Walter Fogarty, College Chaplain, celebrated this historic Mass in the AMCC.

At the end of the Mass, Sr Mary-Louise Petro, Congregation Leader of the Sisters of Mercy Parramatta, presented the College with a gift for our anniversary - a plaque displaying individual images of the founding Sisters. In her address, Sister Mary-Louise encouraged each of us to choose our 'Spirit Sister', the founding Sister who speaks to us and inspires us in our own way.

We were privileged to be joined former Principals of the College including Sister Janet Woods, Sister Ailsa Mackinnon and Mrs Kitty Guerin, as well as many other Sisters of Mercy.

It was also lovely to have in attendance Federal Member for Parramatta Julie Owens and State MP Geoff Lee as well as members of the College Board and P&F.

Staff and guests enjoyed a very special Morning Tea with our 130th Anniversary cake  in the Convent courtyard following the Mass.
