Blessing and Unveiling of Catherine McAuley Sculpture

Blessing and Unveiling of Catherine McAuley Sculpture

In honour of our College’s 130th Anniversary Year, the long-awaited Catherine McAuley Sculpture was unveiled and blessed on the evening of 11 November. A joint project between the Sisters of Mercy and OLMC, the beautiful sculpture of Catherine, invites the OLMC community to come sit awhile, take solace and gather inspiration.

The liturgical celebration began with Uncle Lex Dadd giving the Welcome to Country, followed by a moving opening speech by Sister Mary-Louise Petro, Congregation Leader of the Sisters of Mercy Parramatta. The official Blessing Party moved outside for the unveiling and blessing conducted by Father Walter Fogarty.

It was a celebration of the remarkable woman that Catherine McAuley was – courageous, holy and spirited with a passion that could not be surpassed. She was born to make a difference.
