On Wednesday August 29, the College held its second annual Women in Leadership Forum in the Ailsa Mackinnon Community Centre. Students, families, staff, ex students and Sisters of Mercy came along to enjoy this inspirational evening which featured a panel discussion and Q&A.
Audiences had the chance to listen to four inspirational, articulate women sharing their stories in ways that were engaging, filled with humour and underpinned with great honesty.
Principal (Acting) Marie Wood said OLMC was privileged to have such a diverse group of women at the Forum: " We had a CEO, a Judge, an AFL Captain and a Restaurateur!"
The Forum Speakers for 2018 were:
- Marina Go, Chairwoman of Wests Tigers
- Justice Julia Lonergan, Amanda Farrugia
- OLMC PDHPE teacher and Captain of the GWS Women’s AFL Team
- Carol Salloum, owner of Almond Bar.
Stories emerged of careers that shifted as opportunities emerged, mentors advised redirection and risks were taken. The common theme was having self-belief and being prepared to “have a go”.
