OLMC Students Shine at the UN Youth NSW Junior Leadership Summit

Last term, a group of OLMC students attended the UN Youth NSW Junior Leadership Summit, a day dedicated to developing young leaders and empowering them to create positive change in their communities. The event brought together students from across the state to participate in interactive workshops, leadership challenges, and discussions on global issues such as justice, equality, and human rights.

One of the day’s highlights was hearing from our very own Year 12 student, Ashwini, who took to the stage as a UNICEF Young Ambassador. Ashwini delivered a keynote speech and Q&A in front of over 100 students.

Our students reflected on what the day meant to them:
“I really enjoyed attending the UN Junior Leadership Summit. The staff there were hilarious and easy to talk to, and my friends and I met new people and became great friends with them too. I would love to go there again if I could.” Stacey Litchfield (Year 7)
“I found the JLS a good experience to meet new people and learn about leadership in an interactive way. I found it fun and enjoyable.” Mishka Jhaveri (Year 7)
“The Junior Leadership Summit was a plentiful experience which greatly developed leadership qualities. Through workshops and group assignments we learned about the characteristics of a leader and how to pursue initiatives in order to solve issues of injustice and inequality. It encouraged us to evolve who we are into honourable figures of society that create change for the better.” Aarna Gaur (Year 8)
The enthusiasm, insight, and compassion shown by our students throughout the summit reflect OLMC’s ongoing commitment to nurturing leadership, empathy, and global awareness. We congratulate all participants for representing the College with such pride and purpose.
