The last month has seen remarkable achievements by our girls. Amariah Tamaro of Year 10 reached the State semi-final of the Plain English Public Speaking competition. Georgia Baissari of Year 8, competing against other students up to Year 10, was declared runner-up in the State Final of the prestigious Rostrum Voice of Youth competition. Both girls continue to display talent at the highest level no matter what competition they enter.
In the CSDA Interschool Debating Grand Finals, our Year 11 team of Lizzy Butler, Haynin Lai, Bianca Mina and Matilda Webb - coached by ex-Debating and Public Speaking leader, Lily Tambrchi - completed an undefeated season in taking out the Grand Final. In five years of involvement in CSDA, this team has won the Grand Final three times, a spectacular record by any standards.
Finally, in an outstanding achievement, Our Lady of Mercy College won the award for the most successful Debating school in CSDA. This is testament to the talent and effort put in by all twelve teams and their coaches. Congratulations to all our girls - they deserve it!
