Last Thursday, the OLMC community was united in celebration and acknowledgement of the 2025 HSC students. The night was filled with an overwhelming sense of pride and accomplishment as Year 12 students exhibited their hard work and talents.
Over the past twelve months, Year 12 students in Visual Arts, Music, Design and Technology, Society and Culture, and History and English Extension have worked tirelessly in producing their HSC Major Works - a project undertaken in Year 12 to showcase a student’s individual skills and special interests as a part of their senior studies.
Major Works are not just an opportunity to showcase an individual’s talents, they also serve as a way for a student to convey a message about something important to them. Each individual work weaves an important message by the creator in its words, colour, and design. In Visual Arts, topics such as friendship, cultural identity, and self-discovery were represented through various mediums such as paintings, sketches, and photography. The creations of Design and Technology students highlighted creative solutions to unique problems. Performances by talented Music students shared tunes rich in love, self-identity, and culture. Essays and projects by English and History Extension students brought to light important ideas and issues faced in society both yesterday and today.
The power of these Major Works is not just in their presentation, but in there meaning. Year 12 students have worked to produce creations which speak to the heart of their experiences, values, and aspirations. The showcase allowed their stories to be shared with the OLMC community, creating a lasting impression on students, teachers, friends and families.
Each piece stands as a testament to the resilience, creativity, and intellectual curiosity that defines them as individuals. Year 12 should be extremely proud of their dedication and creativity - skills which will continue to allow them to share and inspire in all their future endeavours.
